Plums

“Early Ontario” variety
AKA “The Paul Rood”

Tasting Notes:

An early purple plum, very juicy and sweet. Pale, slightly mottled flesh.

Eat:

Great snacking plum for lunches, or light desserts.

Elaborate:

Lots of juice allows you to cook it down for a thick multi-purpose plum paste.

“Methley” variety

Tasting Notes:

A small purple plum with nice red flesh. Small, juicy and sweet.

Eat:

Great snacking plum for lunches, or light desserts.

Elaborate:

Slices beautifully to layer on a tart; either fresh or baked.

“Shiro” variety

Tasting Notes:

A beautiful yellow color with a mild plum flavor.

Eat:

Usually a cling, so good right out of your hand!

Elaborate:

Roasts nicely to intensify flavor; use in salads or for snacks.

“Stanley” variety

Tasting Notes:

This classic blue/purple plum takes on a great purple hue when washed. Firm and juicy with a lot of sugars.

Eat:

Great right out of the bowl.

Elaborate:

Good multi-purpose fruit. Nice in a tart, excellent to dry, color is good for garnishes in desserts.

“Vanette” variety

Tasting Notes:

A unique Italian style variety. Nice purple color with deep yellow flesh.
